Akongnwi Jungong Cheo, MD, MSc
Akongnwi is a first-year resident excited about all aspects of radiology, especially the power of ultrasound to meet imaging needs of medically underserved populations. That's just one of the many reasons he is pursuing the Global Health Track.
He says he chose to train at Emory because, "The volume and diversity of cases at Emory University Hospital, Grady, the VA, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is exceptional, thus guaranteeing a great educational experience."
Akongnwi aspires to a career in academic radiology so he can help train the next generation of radiologists.
Akongnwi earned his MD from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Duluth, and an MSc in chemistry from the University of North Dakota. He completed undergraduate studies in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Buea in Camaroon.
Outside of radiology, Akongnwi treasures being the father of his four children. He also is a fan of the Arsenal Football Club of London, England, and enjoys playing the game as well as being a chef.
