Christian Gomez, MD, Chief Resident
Christian is Chief Resident, a member of the Clinical Educator Track, and the Global Health Residency Scholars Program. HIs interests include trauma imaging, chest and abdominal imaging, and resident and medical student education.
Christian is preparing for a career in academic medicine and already has lined up a combined chest/body fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center-Weil New York Prebyterian.
Training at Emory, he says, is ideal because of the "high volume of cases across many clinical sites, which allows us to tackle any job after graduating. There's a culture of working hard but also of collegiality and collaboration. We have access to unlimited opportunities: I'm in the Global Health Residency Scholars Program and am going to Ethiopia this year; an active participant on the RadioGraphics team."
Christian also received an RSNA education grant to support a team project to design a virtual reality system residents can use to practice image-guided procedures like biopsies so when they step in the clinical suite, they already have basic skills.
On his way to radiology residency, this Albuquerque, NM native earned a BA in chemistry from Pomona College in California and then completed medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine.
A three-year old Scottish terrier named Otis takes up most of his free time.
